UConn should get a men's lacrosse team, CT has some great players, it's a shame they have to leave the state to play college ball!
Mollie Medico
UConn deserves to field a team (again) in this wonderful sport. I played club from '82-'87 just after Div I status was surrendered. I'd love to see the University get behind men's lacrosse as well as its fine women's team
Robert Gildersleeve
Lacrosse is a part of the high school sports scene in CT, just like soccer and field hockey which UConn is a power in. The time is now for LAX
Joe Rondinone
If all four teams in the NCAA division 1 championships can have players developed here in CT. Let's keep our talent here at home by developing a solid D1 lacrosse program at UConn. Huskies Lacrosse, its time has come
V. Ray Lietuvninkas
I am ready, willing and able to help bring Men's Division I Lacrosse back to UCONN. It is time to do so and a natural fit for the State and University
Frank J. Szilagyi
It would be a pleasure to see Division 1 lacrosse at UConn.
John Puzzo
I hope the best to UConn if this petition succeeds. I WANNA SEE THE FASTEST GAME ON TWO FEET COME TO UCONN!
Matt Knowlton
I am a HS lacrosse coach and UCONN grad (1993). It is beyond comprehension to me thay LAX is not a varsity sport at Connecticut. Title 9 or whatever the reason, it just doesn't make sense
Kevin Mincio
Lax is the most exciting sport, ever. I dont understand why uconn doesn't have it already. Go uconn lax!
Jackie Toporek
D1 Athletic Directors are going to have to deal with the growth of this sport sooner or later. It is my hope that the UConn administration will realize this sooner and give a potentially great program the head start and foundation it needs
Darius Merriam
Tons of recruiting potential with schools like Fairfield prep and darien in the area pus more and such a key recruiing ground with NY nearby
Ed Rider
This should be a no brainer for UConn. Their location for recruits would make them an instant contender. With the Big East Conference supporting LAX in 2010 it's time for the Huskies to jump on the band wagon!
Patrick O'Malley
UCONN is the most likely program to go Div 1 in the country! Great recruiting grounds,Great School, Big East Lax Conference begins 2010! The Women have a varsity program, why not the men? The time is NOW!!
Mark Reardon
Lacrosse is rapidly growing in CT yet is a Club Sport at UConn--disgraceful. Every Div I program in CT is at a private school. It is time for UConn to go Div I so our athletes can play top level lacrosse at a school their family's taxes pay for.
Robert McConnell
With all the great lax players in the state of Connecticut we should absolutely have a team representing our state university!!!

Mary Ann Long
Be determined, have faith, and go get it UConn. The drive of the human spirit is something that cannot be told no. You deserve to play D1 Lacrosse and the lacrosse community would love to have you.

Benjamin McCutcheon
When I played on the Fairfield club team in the early 70's we played UConn. Look where lacrosse has gone at Fairfield. It is time that UConn does the same, joins its Big East competitors and establishes a Varsity men's lacrosse program.
Will Mraz
What a blast from the past. I can still remember when the team was varsity in the 70's and 80's. A great cause.
Jake Akum
It is long over due for UConn to have D 1 lacrosse. There travel would be light with all the D1 teams that available under 100 miles.
Scott M. Hicks
Connecticut is a hotbed for talent. It's about time this talent has some way to represent CT.
Justin Wilt
These (club) boys practice and act like a varsity team, let them be acknowledged as one!
Lisa Spirito
I am all for this. Just another thing we can be better than Syracuse at.
Andrew Doyle
In Connecticut lacrosse can become a niche revenue generator, similar to women's basketball. We are seriously missing the boat by not offering it as a varsity sport. The last three lacrosse final fours outdrew the D-1 men's basketball final fours. A
Tom Guarnieri
UConn D1 lax was Title IX-ed after the '82 season. Since then a great group of dedicated players have kept the team alive. But 26 years is too long. Bring back UC D1 lax now!! UC lax '83-'86
Marc Aubé
This is a no brainer. I wondered 10 years ago why does Syracuse, Georgetown, UMASS, Duke all have excellent lacrosse teams and UCONN had simply a club.
Chris Stephan
When I moved to CT I could not believe a state university of its size, in a lacrosse hotbed like the NorthEast, did not have a Division I Varsity Lacrosse team. If UMass can get it done, UConn should be able to as well. Long overdue.
Tom Zwiesler
Lacrosse is both growing and thriving up and down the east coast. If UCONN does not add a varsity lacrosse program, their athletic department will be left behind
Andrew B. Smith
I played from 1980 to 1982 on the varsity squad and 1983 when we were forced to club status. I recently saw the club squad play and there is a lot of great talent ready to go. Bringing it back is long overdue and in the Big East is the way to go.
Richard Gannon
UConn is in a perfect position for lacrosse. A solid member of the Big East as they consider lacrosse and in a perfect geographic location not far from Upper State NY, Long Island, the Northeast, and other lacrosse hotbeds.
Paul Flaxman
I think it is time for UConn to add Men's Lacrosse, being in the Big East and having schools like Syracuse and others to play would help right away. This should be done.
William Wilson
How can UConn not have men's lax with so many high school players in the state and New England?
Steve Pulvers
Great for the sport of Lacrosse! Let's get UNH on the ball too! They have LAX Varsity program for Women only!
Kim Watkins
I graduated in '82 when the team was last varsity but didn't play. I have a 7th grader who I would love to see have a varsity option at UConn.
Sean Kelly
The pace at which lacrosse is growing nation wide can not be denied. Connecticut has a long standing tradition of America's oldest sport and the fact that the states flag ship university does not have a team is unacceptable.
John T. Kennedy
I played for UMASS vs. UCONN in the early sixties; and officiated UCONN varsity team games during a twenty year career as an official. With a Big East Conference in sight, it has to happen.
Bob McGlone
As a UConn Alum it would be great to see LAX back at the varsity level. I wanted to try out for the 82 team, but Title 9 came along. I now coach youth lax in Cheshire.
Joe Attanasio
I'm a retired lacrosse coach from Somers, CT now living inn Myrtle Beach, SC. We travel back to CT every 5-6 weeks. UCONN NEEDS LACROSSE! There are a lot of great CT lax players that have to go out of state. Great for UCONN and CT and lacrosse!
Wayne Nolan
The great UCONN sports program needs to be part of the lax wave that is sweeping across the country.
Will Gray
Anyone that has young children recognizes the fact that it's just a matter of time before lacrosse overtakes baseball as the sport of choice during the spring...UConn needs to get back in the game now.
Tim Kaufman
i believe that uconn and the NCAA would prosper greatly by expanding, and including Uconn as a Division 1 team in lacrosse
Mason Banwell
I'm a lax player and i want to go to uconn...but its a turn off that they have no lax...now there would be no negatives
Ronnie Balzano
Lacrosse is the fastest growing sports in the nation. D1 Lax would attract top student athletes.
Lee Dooley
I am going to be attending Uconn starting this fall and I would love to see a Division 1 lacrosse team there!
Michael Williams
Let's get it done! We have too much homegrown talent that's going out of state.
John Schiess
Connecticut and UConn could do this "right". They know how to run an athletic program and would be able to attract talent from all over New England - and beyond.
Keith Norton
As an assistant coach in the former program's final years, I wholeheartedly support UConn's return to the lacrosse community.
Bill Mahoney
s a player, captain and club officer from '91 to '95, I saw a lot of my friends attend out of state division 1 schools. The state of CT lost their academic and athletic talent. That's a shame.
Matthew Corry
Adding lacrosse at UCONN only makes sense. The formation of the Big East Lacrosse Conference opens the perfect opportunity to start.
Mike Gonzales
I love watching guys lacrosse and it is not fair that only us girls get to enjoy having a D1 team at UConn.
Brooke Pettengill
it's a shame that lax is the fastest growing high school sport in Ct. but UCONN doesn't support at the college level!
Fred Capozziello
Our daughter is a senior at UConn (from MA) and loves it; our son is very interested, but is a lax guy - would love if they had a varsity program
Patricia Vickery
Go Huskies, born and raised in CT, would love to see this happen.
Jon Hunt
I have no doubt in my mind that the University of Connecticut could field a Top 10 team within 5 years of having a division 1 program. The funding is there, the players will come, and UConn could easily be a dominant lacrosse program.
John Breslin
Long overdue- Thanks to these organizers for the effort. UConn athletics should "mirror" the interests of the student athletes from within the state.
Jim Tommins
Univ Maryland, Umass, Univ Delaware,Penn state, Albany state, UVA, We are the only state in the north east that does not support a lax program
Rick Bouwman
I hope UCONN will establish a Mens Lacrosse program. Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the Country as well as CT. Just makes sense
Linda DiSarrp
As a nationally recognized university, it is about time UConn got with the unstoppable wave of popularity of this fabulous sport. Some of our best athletes in the State are being recruited all over the country. Let's keep some here!
Teresa Fiamengo
Come on...it's the fastest growing sport in the US and Uconn sits in the middle of a fertile recruiting area.
Michael Haire
Sure would be great if UCONN had a Lax team that my Danbury, CT raised son could play on. I support LAX at UCONN
Tom Buckle
Here's a chance for UCONN administrators to show they can see the future...Lax IS the future, and the future is NOW
Woody Thompson
As many have said - all the ingredients are here, available talent, facilities, affiliation with other schools. COMMITMENT is all that's needed.
Greg Rose
Lacrosse has been such an important part of my kids life, having it at U Conn. would only seem to be another good choice for them during college.
Mike Gillotti
I agree -- UCONN lax would be a great asset to the school and so many would turn out to watch/play and be a part of-- UCONN should totally do it
Dawn Ryan
I'm currently playing HS Lax my junior year, and I plan on playing in college. If UCONN can get this program up and running, it would just give me another good reason to attend the University of Connecticut
Chris McGrath
I grew up in Connecticut and played high school lacrosse. As a UCONN booster I support the effort to develop a D1 program and keep the talent in state.
George Ellis
Definitely need this program at such a great university. It will keep the talent around plus attract players from all over.
Brandon K
I've coached and played lacrosse in CT for over 20 years and I think it would be a great addition. Let's keep the talent IN STATE!
Kip Steele
I would donate some money to help fund a D1 men's team at UConn.
Sean McKeon
What better place than here? What better time than now?
Patrick Reed
Not a better spectator sport in the country. A UConn program would be super popular and among the best in the Big East immediately.
Richard Veilleux
Our State University should support the fastest growing sport. With the Big East forming up in 2010 the timing would be perfect and it would give our state talent the opportunity to stay at home.
Mark Butterworth
I coach lax @ hamden high and hate watching all the talent take a road-trip to NY,MA,NJ,VA and so on. ct is one of the best for building quality players. It's a shame they can't play for a good in state team if they can't get into Yale.
Wes Stokes
As a member of the very first varsity team (1966) I was really angry when the program was canceled. Let me know what else I can do to support the reinstatement of Men's Varsity Lacrosse. UConn could definitely be a national power.
Robert R. Gustavson
Would compete with Syracuse and Georgetown in a few years if they recruited right
Adam Lanehart
I was on the first team when U-Conn went from club to division 1. The year was 1965
Harvey Stoler
There should ABSOLUTELY be Lacrosse at UCONN. WHY NOT! Why take an opportunity away from great Athletes that want to go to a great school! Lax at UCONN for sure.
Eric G
in a lacrosse power state like conn that can get players within its state that can compete at the highest of levels, it would be a great addition too uconn sports and without a doubt i believe uconn could be a power, why not?
Cole Fisher
